Our past achievements The JMC was founded in 1990 by choral director Wayne Bailey, and was initially an outreach of the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. In 1993, the JMC was invited to join The Bolles School's cultural outreach program, which developed into a strong relationship lasting until 1998, when Mr. Bailey resigned to further his education. Directed the following year by Claire Scott, the JMC next hired Jim Taylor, the enthusiastic founder of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus. Two years later, Jim left to bring choral music to the Colorado mountains, and Wayne Bailey became Musical Director once again. Now in its fifteenth year and under the direction of Dr. Mark Stallings, the JMC is comprised of choral enthusiasts who love rehearsing and performing masterpieces of choral literature. These performances have included works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Handel, Britten, Rutter, Bernstein and Duruflé. The JMC has appeared in numerous places of worship in the Jacksonville area, and has shared the stage with notable area choruses, including the Jacksonville Symphony Chorus, the Florida Community College choruses, and the Jacksonville Children's Chorus. In addition, the JMC performed at Rollins College in Orlando for an American Choral Directors Association competition.
